<p>We stayed at Highland Manor for 7 mos. It took 6 mos. to get a new screen for the window which was missing when we moved in. The bathroom door would not close or lock when we moved in as well. It took maintenance about 3 mos. to come look at. They got the door to close and stay closed but never fixed the lock.</p>
<p>It sounded like a herd of elephants lived above us, thumping and banging and stomping around. The lady ran her vacuum every night, usually around 10pm, but many nights as late as midnight or 1 am. I know this cause it was right above our bedroom and heard it plain as day. We also lived across the hall from some serious smokers and the stench in the common area/hallway was horrendous.</p>
<p>The windows were only windows in the sense that you could see out them, but they didnt prevent cold air from coming in (and bugs). Two of them didnt even work properly. The tile in the shower was falling apart and they just put caulking in the cracks to fix it. Many occasions there was no hot water for an hour or so, not sure why. There was also a loud and disturbing gurgling sound that came from the kitchen sink and occured most evenings, again, not sure why. Basically these are very old buildings that werent taken care of and need work.</p>
<p>The great part was when we moved out, we were charged $100 cleaning fee and $80 rug cleaning fee. I could see the LR needing the carpet cleaned cause we did leave a few stains, but not the whole apt. As for the cleaning fee, we have lived in many apartments that were a whole lot nicer and cleaner than this place, and have never been charged for not leaving the place clean&#8230;..until here. I can guarantee you we left this place cleaner than we got it but they charged us anyways.</p>
<p>The only good thing about this place was the leasing manager was very nice and tried to help. This is a cheap place to live, but you get what you pay for.</p>

<p>I resently post a review of my displeasure of losing some of our deposit becasue of a general cleaning charge and carpet cleaning that the Maintenance Supervisor deemed needed to be done. Although I still do not agree that we should have been charged these charges, the Regional Leasing Coordinator cotacted me and explained that the delay for a response to my e-mail was due to the fact that the Bldg. Leasing Manager was no longer there and that it was taking them time to get through her in-box. She went on to say that the Regional Manager agreed to compromise and give us back the general cleaning charge and for this I am thankful and also satified with. I also told her that I never had any other issues with the Leasing Manager @ the apt. bldg. other then getting a response for my last couple of e-mails that I had sent. The Leasing Manager was great to us for the very begining and throughout our son&#8217;s stay there. I do think that if the Maintenance Supervisor is going to be the one that determines whether someone is to be refunded their Security deposit that they should be doing the walk through with the people in the begining not the Leasing Manager. That is just my thoughts where that is concerned. So overall i would recommend Highland Manor Apartments and truly appreciate them responding to my e-mail and refunding us more of our deposit.</p>

<p>My son moved into apt.# 234 the last week of Oct. 2009 to attend school in the Exton area and for personal reasons withdrew the end of Dec.. We moved all but one truckload of stuff home on New Year&#8217;s day. We received an e-mail dated 3/20/2010 @ 2:20pm from the leasing manager stating that there was a leak in the apt. above my son&#8217;s that damaged his bathroom ceiling and that it would be repaired that week, nothing else was damaged. We did a lease modification and had to finish moving the last load of stuff, which he had already to go right by the door,by May 31st. We went down on Thursday the 27th because we didn&#8217;t want to be traveling so far on the holiday weekend. When we got there the ceiling was still not repaired ( more then two months after the e-mail) and debris form the ceiling tile was track form the bathroom through the living room &amp; to the front door. The leasing manager was busy with Ehrlich&#8217;s that morning and when I asked her if she was gonna do a walk through when we were fininshed she told me no that our son wasn&#8217;t there only for a few months that we would be getting our whole deposit back. Well I guess I should have insisted on her walking through with us because in fact we were charged $75.00 for the bedroom carpet to be shampooed and $100.00 for general cleaning. There was ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with the bedroom carpet and the only cleaning that they had to do was cleaning up from their maintenance crew or outside contractor that they had come in to repair the ceiling. I do not feel that we should have been deducted these charges from our deposit. It should have been billed the the apt. above our son&#8217;s if it was their fault for the damage or the complex should have ate the cost if it was neglect on their part. Up to the point of putting in for the lease modification we had no complaints anytime I e-mailed the manager she was very quick to respond but afterwards not so much. In fact I requested a response about not getting full remimbursement and also an e-mail address for the regional manager and I still have not gotten a response. I&#8217;ve waited going on a month and finally decided that I would just put in my review, and based on our experience in the end I WOULD NOT recommend Highland Manor Apts.</p>

I have lived here for over nine years, I would not have stayed this long if I was not happy. I have always had a good relationship with the office staff(s) and a fair relationship with the maintenance staff(s). An outstanding job is done in clearing snow from the parking area. Generally there is enough parking, though occasionally it is difficult to find a spot. I don&#8217;t know if this is because at times someone has a large number of visitors or if the nearby home owners use our parking lot. Parking is allowed in front of the mail boxes and that can make it difficult to access the boxes. I work until midnight and usually arrive back here around 12:30 am, getting to my mail box when a car is parked there is like running an obstacle course. The dumpsters are semi-adequate. They are ok during the week, but by the end of the weekend are overflowing. I had a problem with my thermostat two winters ago (the winter of 08-09). My heat was put on automatic at the radiator, and I was told that someone would be up to repair the thermostat. I am still waiting and the thermostat is hanging on the wall by it&#8217;s wires.</p>

Keep this one around as long as possible! My only complaint is and not with the maintenance guy is that its still 75 degrees in our apartment!! Ridiculous!! Needs to be taken care of. Overall, outstanding worker! Thank you for taking care of us!</p>
